Authority and timing
Tell us who has authority to sell and whether the enquiry is being handled by the owner, an administrator or another appointed representative. Include any inspection arrangements and restrictions on removal.
An enquiry does not transfer ownership or commit either party to a purchase. The agreed goods, price, payment terms and collection responsibilities need to be recorded before collection.
Preparing an inventory
- A list of the available stock and business assets, with quantities.
- Photographs showing condition and any important faults.
- The location, inspection arrangements and clearance deadline.
- The authorised contact and any restrictions affecting the sale or removal.
Stock and assets in one clearance
Goods described as bankrupt stock can include very different products and conditions. Explain what is included in the proposed sale rather than relying on the description alone.
If the inventory includes vehicles or installed machinery, provide the relevant details separately. Specialist removal requirements need to be agreed before collection.
Useful questions
Who should make the enquiry?
The owner or an authorised representative should provide the details. Where an administrator or liquidator is involved, tell us who is authorised to agree the sale.
Can stock be assessed before the clearance deadline?
Send the deadline with the inventory and explain how inspection can be arranged. We will discuss the practical timetable before agreeing a purchase.
Do you provide insolvency advice?
No. This service concerns the assessment and possible purchase of stock or assets. It is not insolvency or legal advice.
